Authentic Living Trauma Therapy

You know the layers of armour you’ve been wearing around your heart to protect it, to survive?

It’s safe to start letting it go.

It’s weighing you down, keeping you trapped. It’s blocking you from your own beautiful light and wisdom.

It’s time to break free.

And you don’t have to do it alone.

What we fear is often what sets us free.

We’re afraid our feelings might be too much, that the pain will destroy us, or make us dangerous.

But it’s also our feelings that tell us what is good and true. They are the compass to our life’s authentic path.

We’re afraid of being fully alive and present, because we’ve learnt it’s safer to shut down, to hide.

But it’s the hiding that keeps us trapped in the darkness.

We’re afraid of opening the Pandora’s Box, of facing the past and the truth within us.

But it’s living a lie that is killing us inside.

We’re afraid of being seen because we don’t believe we can be truly known and still loved.

But it’s when we see how tenderly the right person can hold our story that we feel safe to be our whole selves.

If you choose to share your story with me, our therapeutic journey will have 4 phases:

phase 1

Undoing Aloneness

“Shame cannot survive empathy.”

We are not meant to heal alone. Loneliness was once the reason we had to disown our feelings - and our authentic selves. I am here with you, and ready to hold your pain if you’ll let me. Nothing you bring me will be too much. We will make space for what has previously felt too unbearable or overwhelming. It is by honoring these emotions that they can begin to relax. It is by honouring all of you that you can recover your true self.

phase 2

Somatic Mindfulness

“The body keeps the score.”

When we suppress or avoid trauma-related feelings, they get stored in our bodies, and can cause us to feel triggered without knowing why. As we untangle your emotional experience, we’ll track the moment-to-moment sensations you feel in your body. By giving voice to those stuck, silenced emotions, you will experience a renewed sense of vitality as those energies are released and replaced with strength and resilience.

phase 3

Inner Child Connection

Become the love you needed.

In our rush to grow up and move on, we can leave our younger selves still hurting, and that unresolved pain can keep hijacking our lives. To heal is to reparent our Inner Child, to hold them and tell them that their feelings matter, that it’s not their fault, and that they will always be enough. It is how we become the love for ourselves that we needed, and how we become emotionally whole and integrated again.

phase 4

Openhearted Living

Let your heart be your compass.

The relationship you and I create will help rewire unhealthy relational and emotional attachment patterns you’ve developed in the past. By feeling safe to authentically express yourself with me, you’ll start to trust your inner voice, and develop relationships that are heartfelt yet boundaried. You’ll start living with the 7Cs of an open-hearted state: calm, compassion, confidence, clarity, courage, curiosity and connectedness.

FAQs

What type of therapy do you practice?

I practice AEDP - Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy - a healing oriented, mind/body experiential therapy and transformation-based model that puts positive neuroplasticity into action. It grounds itself on the belief in human’s innate healing capacity, seeking to harness the forces of transformance to facilitate more authenticity living.

What sort of trauma do you work with?

I specialize in childhood trauma that can result from neglect, abuse and/or loss. Those wounded relationships with our caregivers, and the surivival strategies our younger selves employ to cope, can have such an impact on us in later life. I believe by healing those younger parts of us we can reconnect with our vital, authentic selves, and transform our lives in incredible ways.

Do I have to be based in Vancouver?

I offer online sessions for anyone in Canada. You'll just need a stable WIFI, and we can talk from the comfort of your own home.

How much does therapy cost?

The 16 session package costs CAD 1920 (CAD 120+GST / 50 minute session), and can be paid in 4 instalments. Single session are also available at CAD 150+GST / 50 minutes.

Why 16 sessions?

True transformation takes time and dedication. Scientific research has shown that 16 sessions of AEDP Trauma Therapy every 1-2 weeks is an optimal amount of time to start experiencing significant positive change.

Of course, everybody's therapeutic journey is unique and will depend on the depth of your trauma, your current life circumstances, and how much support you want along the way. Some people choose to continue therapy beyond the 16 sessions for a year or more. Ultimately, we will create a programme that feels most supportive to you.

Do you take insurance?

I will provide you with an electronic superbill which contains all of the information your insurance company will need to reimburse you. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out your benefits.

Committing to therapy and choosing the right therapist to share your story with is a big deal. That’s why I offer obligation-free discovery calls so that you can get more clarity before making any decisions. Your heart will know if this is right for you.

Are you ready to recover the invincible aliveness within you?

In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love.

In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile.

In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm.

I realized, through it all, that…

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.

And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.
